Is Christmas Wrapping Paper Recyclable?

Tips from Paper Craft Products

After the Holidays, a lot of consumers wanting to be responsible try to take all the wrapping waste to the recycle bin. But the majority do not know which papers and wrapping products are recyclable.

Here at Paper Craft Products, We present tips from experts on how to recycle from Christmas:

  • WRAPPING PAPER; You can recycle all Christmas wrapping paper unless its metallic or has glitter on it.

Due to new printing technologies make it harder to identify which papers are metallic and which are not, the best and easy way is through the scrunch test. All you have to do is crumple some wrapping paper into a ball, and if stays scrunched its recyclable.

SCRUNCH TEST
  • TAPE; Most of the used Christmas wrapping paper will always have some adhesive tape, and although its an acceptable material, removing all the excess from the wrapping paper will benefit the recycling process.
  • BOWS; The plastic and ribbon composite of most gift bows makes them a non-recyclable product. You can reuse them until they are truly dead, then directly into the trash.

  • GREETING CARDS; On Greeting Cards cards use the same criteria as with wrapping paper. If it has glitter or metallic finish, it is not recyclable. All the rest are okay.
